Lambda Chi Alpha

Pittsburg State University

Pittsburg, Kansas

We believe in Lambda Chi Alpha, and its traditions, principles, and ideals. The crescent is our symbol — pure, high, and ever growing; and the cross is our guide — denoting service, sacrifice, and even suffering and humiliation before the world, bravely endured if need be, in following that ideal.

May we have faith in Lambda Chi Alpha and passion for its welfare. May we have hope for the future of Lambda Chi Alpha and strength to fight for its teachings. May we have pure hearts, that we may approach the ideal of perfect brotherly love.

The History of Lambda Chi Zeta

The Lamda Chi Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha was founded by Thomas Earp in 1969 on the campus of Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas.  Lambda Chi Zeta quickly became one of the top fraternities on campus and remained on top until the 1990’s.  In the 1990’s, the number of members began to decline until 2004, when the chapter had only one member left, Chris Beyer.  Brother Beyer, recipient of the “Last Man Standing” Award, recruited six new members in the Fall of 2005.  Thanks to the generous donations of our respected alumni, the Lambda Chi Zeta received a new chapter house.  Now, four short years later, we have 23 active members and 14 new associates.  Lambda Chi Zeta has steadily been improving each year, both in on-campus greek activities and philanthropic efforts.  Lambda Chi Zeta expects to continue improving and growing in the coming years.

The History of Lambda Chi Alpha

Founded in Boston, Massachusetts, by Warren A. Cole, in 1909, Lambda Chi Alpha International Fraternity is one of the largest men’s general fraternities in North America with more than 227,000 initiated members has chapters at more than 300 universities. It was the first fraternity to eliminate pledging and remains a leader in the fight against hazing, alcohol abuse, and other challenges facing today’s college student. Lambda Chi Alpha serves to complement higher education by providing opportunities for academic achievement, leadership development, and lifelong friendships.  Notable alumni include former President of the United States, Harry Truman, NFL Quarterback Mark Brunell, and 10-time NBA champion coach Larry Brown.
